Green Mountain Mini-Splits was founded by two lifelong Vermonters, Josh and Mike, who have been close friends for decades. With a shared passion for energy efficiency and home comfort, we started this company to provide high-quality heating and cooling solutions to our neighbors in Chittenden County, Brattleboro, and throughout Vermont and the tri-state area. Our mission is to help homeowners stay comfortable year-round with reliable, energy-efficient mini-split systems tailored to Vermont’s unique climate. Summer heat can arrive sooner than you think—beat the rush and schedule your installation today!
Located in both Brattleboro and Burlington, we provide service to most of Vermont, as well as New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Sizing a heat pump system is very specific to the size and construction of your home, and requires a technician to calculate what will provide the best efficiency for your needs. Call us today to size a system for you!
Air has energy in it, even in extreme cold, and mini-split heat pumps collect this energy and move it between the indoors and outdoors. Efficiency will go down as the temperatures get more extreme, and it is ideal to always have a secondary heat source available no matter your situation. However, heat pumps used to be far less efficient than they are now, and this has led to some confusion regarding their benefits in cold weather. In many structures a properly designed installation will supply ample heating through all but the coldest winter days in New England, requiring fossil fuel or electric resistive heating to supplement it only on very cold days.
Mini-Split Heat Pumps use a newer "inverter" technology than many of the large air conditioning units you may be familiar with, generally they are very quiet when compared to traditional heating and AC. The only sounds you will hear from the outdoor units are a subtle clicking when it turns on and off, and the fan noise depending on load. The indoor units only have fan sound, which is very gentle, with some units having quiet and breeze-free technology which can continue to exchange energy without significant noise or air movement in the space.
